ASSEMBLY (Coni.)
DECK ADJUSTMENTS
All mower decks should be checked and
re-adjusted, If necessary, before using the
riding mower.
36" decks should be checked after
assembly and installation for proper
adjustment.
All Decks—Transport Height
Adjustment
A1/2" socket wrench with an extension
and a universal joint is recommended for
this adjustment. When mower lift lever
(See page 18, Item I) is in the raised (UP)
position, there should be a gap of no more
than 1/8" between shoulder bolts (J, Fig.
16) on the mower deck lifting plates and
frame. If adjustment is necessary, lift seat
and seat support. Remove lift rod from
mower deck and push lift rod up through
frame so nuts (D, Fig 15) are accessible.
Turn nuts (D) with the socket wrench, re
attach mower deck, and check. Repeat as
necessary.
28" Decks—Mower Drive Beit
Tension Adjustment
Check distance (K, Fig. 17), between
center of pivot block and center of pivot.
Normal distance should be 7-1/2" (7-1/4"
for 36" Decks).
NOTE: AFTER THE MOWER
HAS BEEN USED FOR A WHILE, THE MOWER
DRIVE BELT CAN STRETCH AND BEGIN
SLIPPING. MOVE DECK FORWARD BY
ROTATING PIVOT (E) TO THE REAR ON RODS
(F) TO PROVIDE ADDED BELT TENSION. RE
ADJUST FRONT LINK TO LEVEL MOWER.

33" & 36" Decks—Mower Drive
Belt Tension Adjustment
Belt tension is controlled by position of
idler (M, Figs. 19 & 21) and pivot rods (F,
Fig. 17). Distance (K, Fig. 17) should be
7-1/2' for 33" decks 7-1/4" for 36" decks.
Adjust position of idler (M, Figs. 19 & 21)
by moving it along the slot. If further
adjustment is necessary, adjust distance
(K, Fig. 17) by rotating pivot (E) to the
rear. Re-adjust front center link to level
mower.
