Problem
Cause
Solution
This is a phenomenon
that occurs with digital
cameras and does not
constitute a
malfunction.
Set the flash to any
other mode except Off.
Set the video system to
the appropriate setting,
NTSC or PAL, for your
TV.
Turn the mode dial to
any mode other than
.
Operate the zoom
before shooting in
movie mode.
Use a CF card
formatted in your
camera. See
Formatting a CF Card
(p. 134)
White dots or
white
asterisks
appear on the
image
The flash
doesn’t fire.
Image not
showing on
TV.
Zoom does
not operate.
Light from the flash has
reflected off dust
particles or insects in
the air. This occurs
more frequently in the
following conditions:
- When shooting at the
wide-angle end.
- When shooting with a
high aperture value in
the aperture-priority
AE mode.
The flash mode is set
to Off.
Incorrect video system
setting.
The mode dial is
turned to
(stitch
assist).
Zoom button was
pressed while shooting
in movie mode.
CF card was formatted
in another device
Reading
images from
CF card is
