Fax transmission
The
FAX-210
is unique among facsimiie machines in that a caller, even with a fax message can
hear your voice (provided the MSG CTR is ON). This is illustrated in the sample OGM below:
"This is (your name / company name). Sorry, we are not availabie now. Leave a
message after the tone. You have 17 seconds for your message. If you wish to
send us a facsimile message, push the "8" button on your telephone keypad when
you hear our message or simply hit the
START
button after the second tone."
NOTE:
The OGM can say "25 seconds" instead of "17 seconds" or whatever number you've
selected. The method of selection is discussed below. The timing (i.e., 25 seconds or
17 seconds) refers to the length of the ICM - the Incoming Message, i.e., the message
left by a caller on your Message Center.
When the caller presses the "8" button within five(5) seconds after hearing your OGM, the
FAX-210
will change from MSG CTR MODE to facsimile mode. If the
"8"
button is not
pressed, the unit will beep and the caller can record a message. After the caller's message is
recorded, the unit beeps again and the unit goes into the fax mode. If no fax message is
forthcoming within 30 seconds, the
FAX-210
releases the phone line.
The Message Center function of the
FAX-210
is an enhancement of the unit's facsimiie
capabilities. Even through the unit cannot record very long messages (as can be done on
traditional answering machines), the
FAX-210
offers remarkable flexibility with a high quality
Message Center. Since the initial connection is the most expensive part of the phone call, the
roll over from Message Center to FAX saves money because it allows Message Center and
facsimile functions to be performed on one phone call.
