Cleaning the Contact Image

Sensor and Scanning Roller

If the receiving party reports that the received documents were black, or

contained black bands, try making a copy on your unit. If the copy is
black or has black bands, the Contact Image Sensor unit or the Scanning

Roller is probably dirty or defective and must be cleaned.

1 Remove the Docunnent Return Tray. Open the ADF Cover.

2. Wipe the Contact Image Sensor and Scanning Roller gently with a soft

doth or wet gauze with ethyl alcohol. Be sure to use a clean cloth, the

Contaa Image Sensor can be easijy scratched.
