Changing the mitial settings

Make settings as shown in tabie below, depending on the kind of equipment that is con­

nected to the audio input/output (optical digital audio output) connector, using the optical

digital audio cable.

•Do not connect to the digital audio input of an amplifier that does not have Dolby Digital

(AC-3)/dts/MPEG audio decoder; if such an amplifier should be connected to the player

with “Bitstream” selected at the “2 Dolby Digital”, “3 dts” and/or “4 MPEG”, any attempt to

play DVD may cause such a high level of noise that it may be harmful to your ears and
damage your speakers.

DVD-L50PM:

•Do not connect to the digital audio input of an amplifier that does not have Dolby Digital

(AC-3)/dts decoder; if such an amplifier should be connected to the player with

“Bitstream” selected at the “2 Dolby Digital” and/or “3 dts”, any attempt to play DVD may
cause such a high level of noise that it may be harmful to your ears and damage your

speakers.

“4 MPEG” setting is only for DVD-L50A.

96 kHz LPCM sound is converted to 48 kHz 16 bit sound when this player is connected
with an optical digital audio cable.

Do the following if you wish to take advantage of high quality 96 kHz sound.
Select “1 No” and connect this player’s audio input/output (optical digital audio output)

connector to an amplifier’s audio input connector with the audio/video cable (included)

or an audio cable (see page 44).

Note that LPCM, Dolby Digital, dts and MPEG signals will ail be output in 2 channel,

analog form.
