Assembly Instructions

NOTICE:

Do not plug in until instructed.

1. Starting with the unit removed from the carton and the back laying off to the side, gently roll

the unit forward to rest on the front or top side of the unit. Cut the plastic ties and remove the
protective packaging under the motor (F

IGURE

1).

2. Remove the twist tie from the motor connector cord. Route the motor connector cord between

the motor cover and the base rail (F

IGURE

2). Gently roll the unit back to the upright position.

3. Carefully cut the plastic tie holding the power transformer box, hand wand and electrical

components bag to the body bracket on units with an arm or the lower back rail on armless units.

Remove the power transformer from the box and set aside (F

IGURE

3).

Remove the cord(s) from the bag and set aside. The electrical components bag contains the

120 volt power cord, and for units with a lighted cup holder, a small Y-cable (F

IGURE

3).

Unwrap the hand wand and lay it across the seat toward the front of the unit.

– To reduce the risk of injury:

• Do not operate the unit until the back is installed and locked.

• The back of the unit must be lifted for assembly. Please seek assistance if you are

unable to lift at least 45 pounds without strain.

WARNING

4. Install the back.

Lay the back front side down on the seat, turn the outside back upholstery cover over, toward

the front of the unit, and locate the back and body brackets (F

IGURE

4).

Lift the back at a slight angle and align the brackets on the back with the brackets on the body.

Lower the back onto the body, taking care not to pinch the cables between any metal or wood

parts and making sure the back and body brackets are completely engaged.
Note: The back is easier to install when holding it level and lowering it evenly onto
the body brackets.

- Lift the back upholstery cover and look up into the back to visually confirm that both sets of back

and body brackets are engaged (F

IGURE

5). If one or both brackets are not engaged, or if cables are

pinched, remove the back and repeat the steps above.

- If you are unable to install the back properly, contact your La-Z-Boy

®

dealer for assistance.

Lock the brackets by using a screwdriver to push down the locking levers (F

IGURE

6).
