Subjects Not Suitable for Autofocus
Autofcxnjs may not work well in the following
instances, and manual focus will probably give
you better results:
A. Subjects with very glossy or shiny surfaces
(e.g. car exteriors)
B. Subjects with little or no reflection (e.g. dark
clothes, dark hair, water surface)
C. Scenes that cause a strong contrast
between right and left halves of the screen
D. Partially obscured subjects
E. Subjects behind glass
F. Backlit subjects
Notes:
• Be sure not to obscure autofocus window located
under the lens with your hand, fingers, etc. during
recording.
• Do not touch focusing ring during autofocus.
• The autofocus mechanism focuses on subjects at
a distance of 0.7-12 metres. For more distant
subjects the focus locks at 100 metres. V\/hen
you zoom in on subjects that are more than 100
metres away, manual focus may be more
effective.
• When shooting night scenes or subjects in cloudy
or low-light conditions, at a distance of 12metres
or more, manual focus may be more effective'
• If the camera is near other products that use
infrared beams (e.g. wireless controller for TV,
VTR, or another video camcorder), autofocus
may malfunction. Autofocus is turned off when
the camera receives signals from the wireless
controller.
• Shooting subjects in low-light conditions at a
distance of less than 1 metre in autofocus mode
may result in poor picture quality. To avoid this,
use the VL-7 Battery Video Light.
