Remove and Replace the Fan and Shroud Assembly
The fan and shroud assembly can be removed and replaced without removing the heatsink.
1. Perform the procedure Before Working on Your Computer .
2. Disconnect the fan cable from the system board (see System Board Components ).
3. Remove the four black screws that secure the fan and shroud assembly to the heatsink.
4. Lift the fan and shroud assembly out of the chassis.
5. Position the new fan and shroud assembly onto the heatsink, aligning the screw holes in the shroud with the holes in the heatsink.
6. Secure the shroud to the heatsink with the four black screws removed earlier.
7. Plug the fan cable into its connector on the system board (see System Board Components ).
8. Perform the procedure After Working on Your Computer .
