You can set the exposure and focus separately. This is effective when
the contrast is too strong between the subject and background or when
a subject is backlit.
To Release the AE Lock:
Operate a button other than the
button or the control dial.
Locking the Exposure Setting (AE Lock)
Available Shooting Modes
Be sure to set the flash to
so that the flash does not fire.
When the flash fires, the FE lock will be used
.

Turn on the LCD monitor.

Aim the camera at the subject on which you
wish to lock the exposure.

Press the shutter button halfway and press the
button.
• The exposure setting will lock and
will display.

Re-aim the camera to compose the shot as
desired and shoot.

In movie mode, AE lock can also be set/canceled
z
After locking the AE, you can change the ISO speed with
exposure fixed.
