through
– If you connect all devices, including the computer through an Ethernet switch, you
can create an isolated network. This chapter assumes you are using an isolated
network.
– If using a non-isolated network, contact your network administrator to obtain IP
addresses.
•
Verify that power is applied to all devices.
What You Need
•
Network Interface Card (NIC) and its associated Windows driver installed on your
computer. The NIC and driver are standard on most computers.
•
BOOTP/DHCP utility from the RSLogix 5000 software CD.
•
Ethernet Address (MAC) for each device that you recorded in
.
•
IP Address for each device, except the PanelView Plus terminal.
– For an isolated network, determine a numbering convention for your IP addresses.
Record these addresses in the Ethernet Addresses table in
.
– For a non-isolated network, obtain IP addresses from your network administrator.
TIP
Devices on the EtherNet/IP network broadcast requests for IP addresses until the IP addresses have been assigned.
The procedure in this chapter uses the BOOTP Server packaged with RSLogix 5000 software to assign IP addresses,
however, any industry-standard BOOTP server will work.
