Pre-operating checks
Before operating your pulverizer make sure that the two pillow block bearings which support the
roller drum have been lubricated. Also grease the fitting where the drawbar is attached to the frame.
Make sure that all bolts are tight except those which attach the drawbar and the braces to the main
frame. The frame pivots on the drawbar and the brace bolts. These lock nuts should be snug but
not so tight that they prevent the frame from pivoting.
Caution Escaping hydraulic fluid under pressure can be nearly invisible and
have enough force to penetrate the skin causing serious injury.
Use a piece of cardboard, rather than hands to search for suspected
leaks. If injured by fluid, see a doctor at once.
Check hydraulic lines and cylinders for leaks before daily operation.
Maintenance
The lubrication fittings should be greased daily. See Figure 5.
The transport wheel hubs should be removed and repacked annually.
If the pulverizer is to be stored in the transport position, exposed portions of the cylinder rod should
be cleaned and coated with grease to prevent corrosion.
Caution Be sure to block the transport wheels when the machine is stored in
transport position.
Recheck bolt tightness after the first few hours of operation and annually thereafter. Again, note that
the lock nuts at the pivoting locations should not be so tight that they prevent pivoting.
