:
Advanced Administration
This Chapter explains the settings available via the "Administration" section of the menu
.
7.1 Overview
Normally, it is not necessary to use these screens, or change any settings. These screens and settings are provided
to deal with non-standard situations, or to provide additional options for advanced users.
The available settings and features are:
PC Database
This is the list of PCs shown when you select the "DMZ PC"
or a "Virtual Server". This database is maintained automati-
cally, but you can add and delete entries for PCs which use
a Fixed (Static) IP Address.
Config File
Backup or restore the configuration file for the Wireless
Router. This file contains all the configuration data.
Logs & E-mail
View or clear all logs, set E-Mailing of log files and alerts.
Diagnostics
Perform a Ping or DNS Lookup.
Remote Admin
Allow settings to be changed from the Internet.
Routing
Only required if your LAN has other Routers or Gateways.
Upgrade Firmware
Upgrade the Firmware (software) installed in your Wireless
Router.
7.2 PC Database
The PC Database is used whenever you need to select a PC (e.g. for the "DMZ" PC).
• It eliminates the need to enter IP addresses.
• Also, you do not need to use fixed IP addresses on your LAN.
However, if you do use a fixed IP address on some devices on your LAN, you should enter details of each such device
into the PC database, using the PC Database screen.
