Edit Isotope Radiations
The radiations database initially contains over 280 lines. Lines may be added to existing isotopes or new
isotopes may be added with their lines. When
Edit Radiations is selected, the Select Isotope screen is dis-
played. Use the
↑↓
keys to select the isotope whose lines are to be edited. Press E
NTER
. The Edit Radia-
tions for “Isotope” screen is now displayed.
1.
Either select an existing line to edit or press the A
DD
key to add a new line for this isotope.
2.
There are four numbers to edit for a radiation. The first is the line energy in keV.
3.
After editing the energy, press E
NTER
to edit the intensity for the line. Intensity is entered in terms
of gammas per 100 disintegrations.
4.
Next edit the detector efficiency for the line. Normally, this field will not be edited. The efficiency
used in dose rate and monitoring calculations will be based on the detector efficiency model.
5.
The final item is the Summing Correction. Unless you thoroughly understand the physics of the
nuclear decay scheme of this isotope, leave this set to the default value of 1.00.
The F3 function key toggles between the E
NABLE
, D
ISABLE
, and P
RIMARY
settings for each line.

Print Databases
The Print Databases utility allows you to print the nuclide and radiation information for a single nuclide with
P
RN
S
EL
(F2) or for the entire nuclide database with P
RN
A
LL
(F3).
To print only part of the nuclide database:
1.
Press F2.
2.
A list of isotopes will be displayed. By default, all of them are set to “no print”. If you press E
NTER
now, nothing will print out.
3.
Highlight an isotope you wish to print out using the arrow keys, and press F3 to enable it for print-
ing. Repeat this for each isotope to be printed.
