Introduction

DESCRIPTION
The Hale Torrent SVS Valve has been designed to:
❑
Maximize valve life utilizing 316 stainless steel construction for true corrosion
resistance from fire fighting foams, chlorines and salt water
❑
Enable easy trouble-free installation with minimum setup, eliminating disas-
sembly for installation purposes
❑
Exceed NFPA requirements
The SVS valve controls
the flow to and from the
full range of Hale pumps,
from 250 GPM / 946 LPM
up to 3,000 GPM / 11,355
LPM). SVS valves enable
the operator to shut off
flow completely, or throttle
the flow rate from a trickle
to full flow. Numerous inlet
and discharge adapters
allow the valve to be tai-
lored to almost any instal-
lation requirement.
The SVS valve is com-
prised of:
❑
Valve body assembly
❑
Inlet and discharge adapters
❑
Handle lever and valve stop
❑
Actuator options (i.e., locking, slow-close, etc.)
(See Figure 2-1: “Typical SVS Valve Primary Components.”)
2.2
PRINCIPLES OF OPERATION
The Torrent SVS valve controls flow
with a stainless steel internal ball. The
valve uses a quarter turn design to minimize travel and is operated by manual
lever, remote push rod, or gear driven operator.
