Verify all fasteners used are Grade 5 or better. Apply Loctite™ #242 or
equivalent, to any threaded fasteners used to install an adapter.

Verify the valve body is
installed with the flow arrow
(

D

), embossed on the valve

body, pointing in the direction
of flow. (See Figure 3-1:
“Sample Embossed Arrow
and Adapter Mounting
Screws.”)

Select an outboard adapter
suitable to the desired appli-
cation. Center the valve
body assembly onto the out-
board adapter and the pump
side adapter.

IMPORTANT !

WHEN MOUNTING ADAPTERS
TO THE SVS VALVE, TIGHTEN
AND TORQUE THE FOUR 3/8”-16 SCREWS TO 20 FT.-LBS. (27 N-M) IN A CRISS-
CROSS PATTERN TO ENSURE AN EVEN, WATERTIGHT SEAL. (SEE FIGURE 3-1:
“SAMPLE EMBOSSED ARROW AND ADAPTER MOUNTING SCREWS.”)

Use joint sealing compound (e.g., Loctite PST or equivalent) on all NPT
(threaded) adapter fittings.

If the valve-to-pump side adapter and/or the outboard adapter uses a
Victaulic™ fitting, connect the apparatus piping using the appropriate
Victaulic connector.

After lubricating the inner coupling seal with a Victaulic approved lubricant,
seat the coupling in both pipe connection grooves. Install the outer metal
split coupling body over the inner seal and tighten fasteners to the recom-
mended torque specifications.

Use new gaskets and apply gasket adhesive as required.

If an electric actuator is used, route the wire harness away from potentially
hot and/or moving parts. Secure the harness every 10” to 12” (254-309mm)
to insure against movement. Such movement could interfere with other actu-
ators and, in the case of cabled actuators, inhibit operation of the valve.

After installation, verify the valve cycles properly from fully OPENED to fully
CLOSED without excessive effort. If equipped with a hand wheel or electric
control, verify the indicator lights sequence properly, indicating valve OPEN,
CLOSE, or IN BETWEEN. If a problem exists, see Section 5 “Troubleshoot-
ing” on page 21.
