1.3.2 Notes on System Configurations
Minimum configuration
In an environment with only one server, all modules are installed in one server. In this
environment, the fault report function does not work if a server fails (crashes, locks up,
etc.)
Medium-scale configuration
In an environment in which several servers are installed, a Management Proxy is installed
in at least one server and only the Agent is installed in the other server units. The
Management Proxy runs 24 hours a day to monitor each Agent (including the
Management Proxy itself).
Large-scale configuration
In an environment in which some dozens of servers are installed, a Management Proxy is
installed in two servers and only the Agent is installed in the other server units. The
each Management Proxy runs 24 hours a day to monitor each Agent (including the
Management Proxy itself).
About HEW version
When an Agent function of HEW Ver.3.1 is installed, it is necessary that a Management
Proxy function of HEW Ver.3.1 is installed in the machine with which its agent
information is registered.
When a Management Proxy function of HEW Ver.3.1 is installed, a Manager function or an
Agent function that its Management Proxy manages of HEW Ver.3.1 or older version
are supported.
1.3.3 Security
HEW does not have any function for security of data transferred in the network. It is
recommended that the customer take security measures appropriate for the customer’s
environment.
When it is necessary to restrict the use of HEW to specific users, HEW folder access authority
can be changed using IIS settings.
Windows NT and Windows 2000 permit Virtual Private Network (VPN) to be used as a network
communication security technology.

Please be careful of the following things about the security of Internet Explorer.
Please start an Internet Explorer, and select [Tools]-[Internet Options]. On [Security] tab, select
the zone that you want to use. On [Security level for this zone], when a [Default Level] button is
not invalid, click this button. Then a level is displayed on [Security level for this zone].
If the level is "High", please do not set "High" as a level since screens of HEW can be not
displayed and a remote console function is not available.
If the level is "Low", when you use a remote console function, "Terminal Service ActiveX
Control" is downloaded without displaying a security-warning dialog. When you want to
display a security-warning dialog, please do not set "low" as a level.
