5.2 Enclosure Core Product
The drive enclosure design concept is based on a subsystem together with a set of plug-in modules and
(as supplied) comprises:
• Enclosure Chassis with integral Front Panel Drive Status Indicator ( Figure 5–9 ).
• Two (2) 1865W Power Cooling (PCM) plug-in modules ( Figure 5–4 ).
• Two (2) plug-in Input/Output (I/O) modules ( Figure 5–5 ).
• A midplane separates the front and back of the chassis and provides the interconnect system
between the PCMs, I/O modules, and the baseboard.
• Up to 60 top loadable hard disk drives (HDDs) in a 5x12 matrix.
• SAS and SATA drive intermix allowed.
The InfiniteStorage 15000 supports both SATA and SAS interface drives. SATA and SAS interface
drives can be mixed with a configuration. However, the mixing of SAS and SATA drives within a
tier is not recommended or supported.
• Eight (8) SAS disk expander modules (DEMs).
