Installation
1. REMOVE ORIGINAL SHACKLES
Raise and support vehicle chassis with jack
stands positioned in front of the leaf springs.
Raise and support the axle housing with a
hydraulic jack to relieve the axle weight.
Remove spring shackle hardware from leaf
spring and chassis, and remove shackle from
vehicle. Retain the original mounting hard-
ware.
2. PRE-LUBRICATE XJ SHACKLES
Apply a thin layer of wheel bearing grease to
surface of Bushing Sleeve and Polyurethane
Bushings.
Assemble Sleeve and Bushings in XJ Shack-
les.
3. INSTALL XJ SHACKLES
Position XJ Shackles in the original location
with the JKS decal facing forward (front of
vehicle) to ensure correct operation and maxi-
mum suspension travel.
Mount XJ Shackle to leaf spring and chassis
with original hardware, but DO NOT tighten
mounting bolts.
4. TIGHTEN MOUNTING HARDWARE
Once both XJ Shackles have been installed,
lower the vehicle to the ground until leaf
springs are supporting full weight of vehicle.
Using a torque wrench, tighten the mounting
hardware to factory torque specifications for
your vehicle.
5. POST-INSTALLATION
INSTRUCTIONS
Lubricate grease zerk fittings on XJ Shack-
les immediately after installation using wheel
bearing grease or equivalent.
After driving vehicle 50 miles, lubricate and
re-torque mounting hardware.
Maintenance
XJ Shackles should be lubricated regularly as part of
vehicle maintenance schedule.
Regular cleaning with pressurized water is recom-
mended to maximize ease of operation and reliability.
