2 Requirements and planning
This chapter describes system requirements and recommendations for planning a BC Z system.
System requirements
The following table shows minimum requirements for BC Z.

RAID 1, RAID 5, RAID 6 RAID level
If you are using the previous version of RWC, which is shown in a secondary window,
you must be in Modify mode to perform pair operations. RWC
BCM and PPRC are independent functions. Use one or the other. BCM/IBM PPRC
BCM requires a command device. For more information about PPRC, see “Preparing for
Business Continuity Manager, PPRC use” (page 23) , “Pair operations using PPRC”
(page 70) , the Business Continuity Manager User Guide, and other IBM documentation
regarding PPRC.
Requires a command device when used in In-Band mode, though not for Out-of-Band
