Objective

Confirm the observation using XPWatch.

Resolution

In this case, XPWatch can help you to isolate XP array’s performance from the application’s
performance.

Using XPWatch, perform the following steps:

Select the host group or server where the application is running. All ports attached to the host
groups are displayed.

Select all ports attached to the host groups.

Select all LDEVs and RAID groups attached to the ports.

On the output screen, monitor and collect performance data for short time intervals, for example,
10 seconds.

Results

By studying the XPWatch metrics, you can analyze the amount of load on the XP array and the
response time for I/Os from the host. This data can be correlated with the application performance.
