You can use the (optional) HP IO Accelerator Management Tool GUI program to check for outdated

firmware.
To check for outdated or old firmware:

1.

Launch the IO Accelerator Management Tool application and look for any devices that have a warning
symbol.

2.

To ensure that the alert is from outdated firmware, click any devices with a warning symbol.

3.

Select all devices requiring firmware update and use the IO Accelerator Management Tool to update
the firmware. For details, see the HP IO Accelerator Management Tool User Guide.

To check for old but not outdated firmware:

1.

Find the name of the latest firmware version as noted in the release notes.

2.

Use the IO Accelerator Management Tool application to check the firmware version of each IO
Accelerator device against the latest firmware version.

Enabling PCIe power

For PCIe IO Accelerators, if you have installed any dual IO Accelerator devices, such as the HP ioDrive2

Duo, then the device might require additional power than the minimum 25 W provided by PCIe Gen2 slots

to properly function.
For instructions on enabling the device to draw additional power from the PCIe slots, see "Enabling PCIe

)."

IO Accelerator naming

The IO Accelerator receives an identification name and number as part of the installation process. The syntax
is fctx, where x is the number of the bus where you installed the IO Accelerator. Use the IO Accelerator

Management Tool to view this bus number, or follow these steps:

1.

Select Start > Control Panel > System > Hardware > Device Manager.
