Specifying Tool Locations

There are three types of tools whose locations NSDEE must have access to before you can build
on Windows:

NonStop cross compilers and linkers

SQL/MX preprocessors (only needed when building SQL/MX applications)

The location of a bin directory containing make and other tools (provided by Cygwin or
Msys)

If these tools are installed at standard locations, then NSDEE will automatically find them. To check
if NSDEE has detected tool locations, perform the following steps:

1.

Open the preferences for tool locations:
a.

Select Window > Preferences to open the Preferences dialog.

b.

Expand the NonStop Development node on the left side of the Preferences dialog.

c.

Select the Tool Locations entry under the NonStop Development node you just expanded
(A shortcut is to simply select Tool Locations from the NonStop menu.)

2.

Select the Cross Compilers tab (if it is not already the selected tab). It will list all the cross
compiler locations (and associated RVUs) detected. If for some reason cross compilers weren't
detected (for example, if you installed the cross compilers after installing and trying NSDEE),
then perform the following steps:
a.

Select Add... to open the Add Cross Compiler Location dialog.

b.

In the Add Cross Compiler Location dialog, the Location: text box should contain the
location under which your cross compilers are installed. If not, enter the location under
which you installed NonStop cross compilers.

c.

Ensure that the Auto-detect root folders radio button is selected.

d.

Select OK.

If, on the other hand, you have cross compilers installed at a non-standard location, see

“Configuring Tool Locations” (page 62)

for information on how to add those locations

to your Tool Location preferences.

3.

Select the SQL/MX Preprocessors tab. It should show all SQL/MX preprocessors on your
system, if any. If existing preprocessors are not shown, then perform the follow steps:
a.

Select Add... to open the Add SQL/MX Preprocessor Location dialog.

b.

In the Add SQL/MX Preprocessor Location dialog, the Location text box should contain
the location under which the SQL/MX preprocessor is installed. If not, enter the location
under which you installed the SQL/MX preprocessor.

c.

Ensure that the Auto-detect root folders radio button is selected.

d.

Select OK.

If you have the preprocessors installed at non-standard locations, see

“Configuring Tool

Locations” (page 62)

for information on how to add those locations to your Tool Location

preferences.

4.

Select the Cygwin/Msys tab. You need either Cygwin or Msys installed to be able to run
make

. Both are available on the NSDEE installation media.

NSDEE will automatically detect the Cygwin bin directory if it is installed at C:\cygwin\bin
and detect the Msys bin directory if it is installed at C:\msys\1.0\bin; otherwise, you'll
need to specify the location where you have either Cygwin and/or Msys installed.

NOTE:

It is not necessary to set a Cygwin or Msys bin directory if the bin directory is

already in your Windows PATH environment variable or if you launch Eclipse from a Cygwin
shell (assuming the Cygwin shell's PATH variable includes an entry for Cygwin's bin directory).
