Assign a Data Type
Specify the data type for column using the Type pane, as shown in Figure
12-3.

To assign a data type
1.
Choose the data type for the column by clicking on one of the
following: Char, PicX, Varchar, DateTime, Interval, Decimal, Numeric,
Pic9, Smallint, Integer, Largeint, or Float.
Depending on the data type you choose, additional attributes of
the data types can be specified. For example, if you choose
Decimal, the Length, Scale, and Signed check-boxes are
displayed in the pane.
2.
Click on the appropriate check-boxes to define the attributes of the
data type.
Assign Value Attributes
Use the Defaults pane shown in Figure 12-4 to specify the default value for
the column.

To assign default attributes
1.
If the new column should allow null values, click on NULL.
