Snapshot XP
distinguish between SMPL and SMPL(PD) volumes using RAID Manager, issue the
inqraid
command
as well. The
inqraid
command shows whether Snapshot XP is using the volume. As a result of the
inqraid
command, if Snapshot XP is not using the volume, the volume status is SMPL. If Snapshot XP
is using the volume, the volume status is SMPL(PD).

Information about Snapshot XP pairs, such as snapshot ID or pair status, can be referenced on the Detail

Snapshot XP operations
This section describes requirements for using Snapshot XP, installing Snapshot XP, and calculating the
number of pairs that Snapshot XP can create.
Requirements for using Snapshot XP
For requirements of volumes used for Snapshot XP, see ”
Installing Snapshot XP
1.
Install additional shared memory for differential tables.
2.
Install additional shared memory for the V-VOL management area.
When using an XP10000, you do not need to install additional shared memory. You only need to
define shared memory for the V-VOL management area.
3.
Install Business Copy XP, which is a prerequisite for Snapshot XP.
4.
Install Snapshot XP.
NOTE:

Contact your HP Account Support Representative to install additional shared memory for the V-VOL
management area.

Business Copy XP must be installed.
Pool
The pool must be created. The pool’s maximum capacity changes with shared
memory’s capacity.
V-VOL
The V-VOL must be created.
Operation
Command View XP or XP Remote Web Console and RAID Manager are required to
operate Snapshot XP.
