Trimble® Ranger™ Programming Guide
About This Guide
This guide provides instructions for programming an ORION® In-Home Display (IHD) using a Trimble® Ranger™ handheld
device. The guide has three main parts.
•
Part 1:
- Installing the ORION CE IHD Programming Software on the Trimble Ranger
•
Part 2:
- Accessing the ORION CE IHD Programming Software
- Programming the IHD for an ORION CE Endpoint
•
Part 3:
- Getting Log Data from an IHD
- Transferring a Data File
IMPORTANT
The IHD programming software must be installed on the Trimble Ranger before the IHD can be programmed. Instructions
are in Part 1 of this guide but may be skipped if the software is already installed.
Product Description
The IHD is a tool used to monitor water usage on the following Badger Meter RTR® or ADE® meters:
•
5/8"– 2" Recordall® Disc Series
•
1/2"–10" M-Series® Mag
•
2"– 6" Recordall Compound Series
•
5/8 –2" E-Series®
•
8" Recordall Combo
•
3"–10" Fire Series
•
1-1/2"–10" Recordall Turbo Series
This guide provides instructions for programming the IHD to a specific ORION CE endpoint serial number using a Trimble
Ranger with the IHD programming software.
An IHD is programmed to one ORION CE endpoint only so the IHD “listens” for the unique endpoint serial number set up with
the programming tool. The IHD may be reprogrammed to any ORION CE endpoint.
IMPORTANT - Battery Power
The IHD comes with two AA batteries installed in the battery compartment. Remove the small plastic tab from inside the
battery compartment to activate the batteries before using the unit for the first time.
The IHD is always "on" when the batteries are installed and have sufficient power, gathering data at the top of every hour.
The IHD displays a low battery message when the batteries need to be replaced. If you remove the batteries, the IHD
maintains memory (endpoint serial number and data files), but you must check the date and time on the unit and update
if needed when the batteries are replaced. The IHD may also be powered using the optional AC to DC adapter.
