1.1 Information about the user manual

This manual provides important information about the instrument and can be used as a work of
reference for installing, operating, and maintaining your Series 8 pro pyrometer. It is important
that you carefully read the information contained in this manual and follow all safety

1.2 Safety
This manual provides important information on safely installing and operating the
Series 8 pro pyrometer. Several sections of this manual provide safety warnings to avert danger.

1.2.1 Eye protection filter
The eye is exposed to extreme brightness during the alignment of the pyrometer with the view
finder at temperatures above 1200 °C. The pyrometer is equipped with an eye protection filter
to prevent a damage of the eye. This filter must be used for such measurements.
