2. WARNING ELEMENTS
Let’s examine the tools used in this manual* to alert planners, supervisors, installers, and users
of potential hazards inherent in the use of the Superchute
® product.
THE SAFETY ALERT SYMBOL
This is the safety alert symbol. It is used to alert you to potential personal injury
hazards. Obey all safety messages that follow this symbol to avoid possible
injury or death.
SIGNAL WORDS
A signal word is used to attract your attention to the warning. As indicated below, another
purpose of the signal word is to identify the level of risk or hazard involved. The following
signal words may be used:
WARNING

DANGER
!
CAUTION
!
Indicates an imminently hazardous
situation which, if not avoided, will
result in death or serious injury.
Indicates a potentially hazardous
situation which, if not avoided, could
result in death or serious injury.
Indicates a potentially hazardous
situation which, if not avoided, may
result in minor or moderate injury.

CAUTION
CAUTION used without the safety alert
symbol indicates a potentially hazardous
situation which, if not avoided, may
result in property damage.
