iEXD-12, iEXD-24 EXTERNAL INITIATE ADDENDUM
PURPOSE
The external initiate modification of the iMXD allows use of an external normally closed switch to start the
exit delay process when door movement initiate is not wanted or allowable for the specific application. A UL
listed egress device such as the Securitron TSB Series Touch Sense Bars or a Mechanical Panic Bar with lock
control switch can be used to accomplish this.
CONNECTION
On the iMXD main board you will find a second smaller board (iEXD) with two screw terminals on standoffs.
You will use the terminal marked IN and the +V Input to connect your normally closed initiate switch (Figure
1). There are no other connection changes for this modification. Lock power, external alarm and external
reset all follow the standard instructions in the iMXD manual.

Notes:
• Dip Switch number 5 automatic relocking is disabled in the iEXD version of the integrated exit delay
lock.
• Dip switch number 4 BOCA re-locking is functional. To use the option a customer installed normally
closed door position switch must be connected between the +DC input and the RS terminal. Refer to
IMXD Instructions 500-18900, Section 4.6 - External Relocking.
Modifications from IMXD to IEXD
• MXD Spring Loaded Sex Bolt (1” hole) replaced by standard Sex Bolt (1/2” hole).
• Permanent Magnet Actuator and Backing Plate
• Trigger point added for exit device initiate.
These parts are not packed with this version of the iMXD because they are not used with external initiate.
