Mounting templates, Ahead
Cat. No. 1612 & 1614* Series Bi-Color Lights
*Note: Access required from underneath for installation and service.
The above lights are designed for use on sail or power driven vessels under 12 meters (39.4 ft.) in length operating on a nominal 12
volt or 24 volt system. In order to comply with ‘72 COLREGS and the U.S. Inland Rules, the following must be adhered to:
MOUNTING INFORMATION
Read all instructions before proceeding
1).
For proper light selection, positioning and configuration, refer to A.B.Y.C. Standard A-16*, the ‘72 COLREGS*, and the U.S.
Inland Rules*. These lights are usually supplied complete with a 12 volt bulb (Cat. No. 0071DP0CLR - 12V, 10W), however, 24
volt bulbs (Cat. No. 0072DP1CLR) are available for 24 volt systems. Note: PERKO Series 1612 & 1614 lights used with a 24V
Bulb (Cat. No. 0072DP1CLR) are not certified in accordance with 33 CFR 183.810 as these lights are intended for replacement
use only on appropriate vessels constructed prior to 11/1/03. All previous certifications apply.

This light is designed to be mounted on a horizontal surface. (IMPORTANT: top of light must be vertical during operation.)
3).
Draw a 4 inch long reference line through the center of the selected mounting location and parallel to the centerline of the boat.

Cut out the the appropriate mounting template below. Place it on the mounting surface such that the reference line (drawn
above) is directly underneath the reference line marked on the template.

Fig. 1612, Drill indicated holes through the template to accommodate mounting screws and socket. For Fig. 1614, Drill indicated
holes through the mounting surface to accomodate socket as required. Important: Drill 5/16” (smaller) hole first.
6).
Attach supply connections to the light, making sure to wire in accordance with both A.B.Y.C. Standard E-9* and the U.S. Coast
Guard Safety Standards for Boat Electrical Systems (33 CFR 183)*.
7).
Mount the light in accordance with template, noting the position of the red and green lenses in relation to the fore-aft centerline
of the boat. Also note the “notch” in the mounting socket faces aft as indicated.
8).
Setup for Operation:
Fig. 1612, Insert pole in base, making sure alignment screw in pole slides into notch in base. Push pole down until it engages
the electrical connector and then lock by rotating the locking collar clockwise.
Fig. 1614, As pole engages with base, make sure alignment screw in pole slides into the notch in the base. Push the pole until
it engages the electrical connector. Turn the threaded collar clockwise until it threads into place and is snug onto the base.
