general Description
6.1.
The Power I/O Box Type 8643 with PROFIBUS PA connection (stated below as the Power I/O Box Type 8643)
is used to connect binary signals to the PROFIBUS PA.
It is suitable for use in areas where there is a risk of explosion, authorized according to ATEX for use in Zone 1
and 21.
The device is available either in an aluminium or polyester housing belonging to protection class IP65.
All cable glands are situated on the underside. There are two versions of the different bus concepts:
2-wire version
In the 2-wire version a separate cable is not required for the Ex-e bus on account of the available current up to
1.5 A.
4-wire version
In the 4-wire version the device is supplied for the Ex-i bus (FISCO) via a voltage source, as the usable energy
from the bus line is severely restricted. However, the connection to an Ex-e bus is also possible.
