9. Mount the 4-flat end in an accessible location.
If routing the wire thru a grommet and along the
exterior of the vehicle, be careful to avoid any
hot pipes, heat shields, the fuel tank or any other
points that may pinch or break the wire.
WARNING
Test and verify installation with a test light or
trailer once installed. For initial test, reset vehicle
electrical system by temporarily removing the key
from the ignition. Re-insert key and turn key to
the proper position.
10. Reinstall the threshold, trim panel, cargo net and
cover. Being careful not to pinch or cut the wires.
WARNING
Overloading circuit can cause fires. DO NOT
exceed lower of towing manufacturer rating or:
• Max. stop/turn light: 1 per side (2.1 amps)
• Max. tail lights: (5 amps)

TOOLS REQUIRED:
Trim Panel Remover, 10mm Socket &
Ratchet or 10mm Wrench, Drill (3/32” Drill Bit),
1/4” Socket, Wire Crimpers, Wire Cutters,
Philips Head Screwdriver, Test-probe
1. Open the rear door of the vehicle and temporarily
remove the rear threshold, cargo net and cargo
cover to allow access of the rear interior trim
panel on the driver’s side.
NOTE
It may be helpful to fold rear seat forward.
2. Using a Trim Panel Remover Tool, carfully remove
the two plastic panels shown

. Partially remove
the main trim panel by removing the 10mm bolt, 2
screws behind seat lever, 1 clip, and 1 cargo hook
(push in center)

3. Gently pull back the upper trim panel to reveal the
vehicles 13-pin connectors

4. Check to see that the mating surfaces of the
vehicle wiring connectors match the T-Connector
ends. All connector surfaces should be clean and
free of dirt.
5. Locate the T-Connector’s Grey 12-Pin connector
and insert it into the mating connector located on
the black box-module

. Check to see that the
mating surfaces of the wiring connectors match.
All connector surfaces should be clean and free
of dirt. Be careful not to damage the locking tabs
and be sure that connectors are fully inserted with
locking tabs in place.
6. Mount the T-Connector’s black box-module below
the rear threshold in the spare tire compartment in
an out of the way place.
NOTE
This surface should be in an area that is free of
any moisture and mounted in an area that it is high
enough where it could not be exposed to direct
contact with any water or liquid substance.
WARNING
The black box-module is intended to be mounted
ONLY in the INTERIOR of the vehicle. Mounting
on the exterior or areas exposed to the elements
or moisture could cause serious damage to the
vehicle and module. Secure the remainder of the
T-Connector harness with the cable ties provided,
to prevent damage or rattling and being careful
to avoid any areas that would pinch, cut or melt
the wire.
7. On the driver’s side, locate a suitable grounding
point near the connector such as an existing
ground stud or drill a 3/32” hole and secure the
white wire using the eyelet and screw provided.
(Do not drill into vehicle floor or bed.) Clean dirt
and rustproofing from area.
CAUTION
Verify what is behind any surface prior to drilling
to avoid damage to the vehicle and/or personal
injury. Do not drill into any exposed surfaces.
8. Locate fuse compartment under the driver side
dash. Open fuse compartment and place 7.5 amp
fuse provided

NOTE
An additional 5 amp fuse is located on the harness
near the black box-module.
WARNING
Overloading circuit can cause fires. DO NOT exceed
manufacturer rating. Read vehicle’s owner’s manual
& instruction sheet for additional information.
