Figure 1.
Driver’s side
frame rail.
1.
Lower exhaust system at the rubber isolator (3 places) leaving the rubber isolator in place on the vehicle. Spraying a lubricant on the metal hanger rod and the
rubber isolator helps removal. Be careful not to allow muffler to fall under its own weight.
2.
Scrape undercoating from bottom of drivers frame rail. Clean out undercoating from rearward weldnut (do not damage threads). Confirm M10 hex bolt will
thread into weldnut.
3.
Lower spare tire: Keep spare tire in cradle, and in position for ease of installation (keep tight enough so spare tire and cradle do not fall during installation).
4.
Remove tie down bracket from passenger side. Retain bolts to be used in hitch installation. Return tie down bracket to owner.
5.
Drill 1” access hole in bottom of driver’s side frame rail only, between the attachment holes for bolt and spacer. See Figure 1.
6.
Feed pull wire with spacer and carriage bolt into frame rail thru 1” drilled hole and out the attachment hole. Leave pull wire attached.
7.
Feed the pullwire through the slot on the hitch brackets. Raise the hitch into position, around the exhaust hanger, being careful not to push the fasteners into
the frame rails. Loosely attach fasteners on driver’s side. Raise passenger side into position on the outside of the frame rail. Install (3) hex bolts removed in
step 4 as shown. May need to push up/rock hitch into position. Install as shown.
8.
Tighten all fasteners to the required torque specification.
9.
Reinstall exhaust (rear outside rubber isolator is a tight fit).
10.
Tighten spare tire cradle (DO NOT OVER TIGHTEN)
Tighten all M10 CL8.8 fasteners with torque wrench to 42 Lb.-Ft. (57 N*M)
Tighten all 7/16-14 GR5 fasteners with torque wrench to 50 Lb.-Ft. (68 N*M)

Note: check hitch frequently, making sure all fasteners and ball are properly tightened. If hitch is removed, plug all holes in trunk pan or other body panels to
prevent entry of water and exhaust fumes. A hitch or ball which has been damaged should be removed and replaced. Observe safety precautions when working
beneath a vehicle and wear eye protection. Do not cut access or attachment holes with a torch.
