Dodge Pickup Full Size – All W/8’ Box

Equipment Required:
Wrenches: 3/4, 13/16, 7/8
Drill Bits: 9/16
Hitch requires 5/8” pin and clip.
1.
Remove the spare tire and carrier from the vehicle.
2.
Vehicles W/O Factory Step Bumper: Using the existing holes in the frame rails, bolt the reinforcement brackets into the inside
of each frame rail using 1/2” X 1.25 hex bolts, 1/2” hex nut and lock washers in the two top holes in each bracket. The
reinforcement brackets should rest tightly against the rail lower flanges.
2.
Vehicles W/ Factory Step Bumper: Remove the nuts from the bolts attaching the bumper brackets to the frame rails. Install
the reinforcement brackets into the inside of each frame rail over the bolts and reattach the nuts. The reinforcement brackets
should rest tightly against the rail lower flanges.
3.
Position the receiver on the vehicle with the rear attachment holes aligned with the holes in the reinforcement brackets. Loosely install the
9/16 X 1.50hex bolts and 9/16” locknuts in the rear holes as shown. (Note: Locknuts should be inside the frame rails).
4.
Center the receiver on the frame. Using the receiver as a template, drill four (4) 9/16” holes into the frame.
5.
Install the remaining fasteners as shown, placing the blocks inside the frame rails.
6.
If the under-box storage is to be retained, modify and/or relocate the spare tire carrier.
Tighten all 9/16 GR5 fasteners with torque wrench to 120 Lb.-Ft. (163 N*M)

Tighten all 1/2 GR5 fasteners with torque wrench to 75 Lb.-Ft. (102 N*M)
Note: check hitch frequently, making sure all fasteners and ball are properly tightened. If hitch is removed, plug all holes in trunk pan or other body panels to
prevent entry of water and exhaust fumes. A hitch or ball which has been damaged should be removed and replaced. Observe safety precautions when working
beneath a vehicle and wear eye protection. Do not cut access or attachment holes with a torch.

and SAE J684.
