Transmitter
The Extron MTP U T A D is a mini twisted pair (MTP) transmitter, in a two-gang Decora form
factor, that is fully compatible with all MTP video and audio receivers and associated MTP
products.
MTPs transmit and receive over Extron Enhanced Skew-Free A/V UTP cable or over CAT 5,
5e, or 6 shielded twisted pair (STP), unshielded twisted pair (UTP), or foil shielded twisted
pair (FTP) cable.
The Extron MTP U T A D transmitter and one or more compatible receivers comprise a
system for long-distance distribution of VGA or other high resolution and low resolution
video and audio.
The MTP transmitter inputs high or low resolution video signals (RGB, tri-level and bi-level
component video, S-video, or composite video) on connectors dedicated to each video
format. The transmitter can auto switch among the inputs or you can manually select the
input.
A buffered local monitor connector provides for pass-through of the RGB connector input.
The transmitter also inputs stereo audio signals on a 3.5 mm mini jack and RCA connectors.
The transmitter sums the left and right audio channels to convert the audio to mono (L+R)
format.
The transmitter converts the inputs to a proprietary signal and outputs that signal on an
RJ-45 connector.
The transmitter has dedicated connectors for RGB video, component video, S-video, and
composite video.
The compatible MTP receiver inputs the transmitted proprietary signal on an RJ-45
connector, converts the video back into its original format and resolution and the audio into
a dual mono output. The receiver 5 outputs video and audio locally.
The transmitter is shipped with an external 12 V, 1 A power supply that accepts 100 to
240 VAC, 50 Hz or 60 Hz input and provides worldwide power compatibility.
