Color Measurement Instruments
This appendix explains how to set up and calibrate the following color measurement
instruments:
• EFI Spectrometer ES-1000 hand-held spectrometer
• X-Rite DTP41 automatic scanning spectrophotometer
• X-Rite DTP32 automatic scanning densitometer
Using the EFI Spectrometer ES-1000
The EFI Spectrometer ES-1000 is a hand-held
spectrophotometer
that measures the
spectral light
reflected from printed output and other colored materials, as well as the
density
of printed ink and toner. It uses the density measurements to effectively
calibrate the EX7750.
Setting up the ES-1000
To use the ES-1000 for calibration, you must first set it up for use with your computer.
Follow the instructions that accompany the ES-1000, and connect the ES-1000 to
your Windows or Mac OS computer by connecting the USB cable to a free USB port,
or to a USB hub that features a separate power supply.
Because of its power requirements, the ES-1000 will not work if it is plugged into the
USB port on your keyboard.
