4. Hold a phase contrast ring and, while pushing the spring 5 inside
the turret with the edge of the phase contrast ring 6, insert the ring
completely in the turret position until the ring frame contacts the
bottom of the position. (Fig. 38)
# Be careful not to apply pressure to the ring slit inside the frame.
5. Rotate the optical element centering knobs clockwise to tighten the cen-
tering screws lightly.
# If the optical element centering knobs are attached, the turret is un-
able to be rotated.
# Do not tighten the optical element centering knobs too much, for
this may deform the frames of the optical elements.
6. Place the index 7 provided with each optical element in the index inser-
tion hole having the same number 9 as the number of the position 8 in
which the corresponding optical element is mounted. (Figs. 39 & 40)
}Note that the IX-ULWCD does not have the index.
}The optical element with the number indicated by marking · a is engaged
in the light path. (Fig. 39)
}To remove an optical element index, use the tip of a ballpoint pen or
mechanical pencil.
7. When all of the required optical elements have been mounted, attach
the cover and tighten the detaching screws.
