Replacing the Adapter and Activating
the Network Interfaces
This procedure describes how to activate the
qfe
interfaces after replacing the
adapter into the system.

To Replace the Adapter and Activate the
Network Interfaces
1. Replace the adapter as documented in your system’s service manual.
Caution –
You must follow the instructions outlined in your system’s service
manual for the replacement of network interface I/O cards. If you do not follow the
procedures in service manual, you may cause your system to panic.
2. Log in to the system as superuser.
Refer to the system’s documentation for the procedure.
3. Activate the
qfe
interfaces using the
ifconfig
command.
For each adapter interface, type the following at the terminal prompt, replacing
instance with the interface’s instance number and ip_address with the interface’s
IP address:
For example, if you want to activate four
qfe
devices named
qfe0
,
qfe1
,
qfe2
, and
qfe3
, you would type:
Note –
The IP addresses shown above are examples. Your interfaces will have
different IP addresses.
# ifconfig qfe
instance ip_address
plumb up
# ifconfig qfe0 129.144.10.83 plumb up
# ifconfig qfe1 129.144.10.41 plumb up
# ifconfig qfe2 129.144.10.67 plumb up
