Memory and processor problems
The system detected memory errors during start up.
The system does not recognize a new or second processor.
Probable cause Solution
Memory was added or
removed, and the new
configuration was not saved
in BIOS Setup utility Open the BIOS Setup utility and save the new
memory configuration.
The memory was installed
incorrectly Make sure the memory is seated and oriented
correctly.
A memory chip is faulty Replace the card with the faulty chip.
Third-party diagnostic programs can help
determine which chip or memory segment is
failing.
Probable cause Solution
The processor was installed
incorrectly or was not seated
correctly in the socket Check the installation and make sure the
processor is fully seated in the socket. The
processor should be recognized automatically
if it was installed correctly.
