Chapter 2: Hardware Components

Cables

The cables listed in Table 2-4 are required to connect a Tenor DX to various interfaces. Contact Quintum for
ordering information, if necessary.

NOTE:

A crossover cable is required when connecting to a Line side (PBX) interface (when supplied by
Quintum, this is a red RJ-45 cable). A straight cable is required when connecting to the trunk side
(PSTN) interface (when supplied by Quintum, this is a green RJ-45 cable).

RJ-45 Cables

RJ-45 cable connector pinouts are given in this section to help you identify the proper connector to accommo-
date your specific networking requirements. The RJ-45 (ISO 8877) connector is the EIA/TIA standard for
Unshielded Twisted Pair (UTP) cable; the wiring color codes are UTP Standard Coloring. The pin order is
shown in Figure 2-5.

T1/E1 connection to Trunk Side (PSTN) inter-
face.

RJ-45 Ethernet cable (grey or white)

Connection to Ethernet LAN 10/100.

DB-9 Serial RS-232

Connection to PC’s asynchronous console
port.

Detachable (IEC) AC Power Supply Cord

Connection to AC power jack.
