next section to this command line.

Using EMM386.SYS
EMM386SYS is an expanded memory manager that lets you
use extended memory to emulate expanded memory so that you
can use application programs that support LIM EMS.
Note
Do not use EMM386.S YS if you installed an expanded
memory option card. Use the device driver that came with
the memory card. See the documentation that came with the
card for instructions.
The full syntax for the command line that activates
EMM386SYS is:
DEVICE= [d:][path]
EMM386.SYS
[size]
[X:mmmm-nnnn] [Mx]
The items in brackets are optional; you do not type any brackets
when you enter this command. The following paragraphs
describe the items in the command line.
The d:path parameter specifies the pathname. You specify the
pathname if the file EMM386.SYS is not in the root directory
of the hard disk or diskette from which you load MS-DOS. For
example, if EMM386.SYS is in a directory called \DOS on
drive C, include the pathname, like this:
DEVICE=C:\DOS\EMM386.SYS
