CAUTION
Do not use compressed air to blow off a dirty filter.
Using air will not clean very well, and the filter could be damaged!
NEVER RUN THE CHILLER WITHOUT PROPERLY INSTALLED FILTERS!
9-3 Maintaining the Condenser
Dirty surfaces on the condenser heat exchanger reduce system
capacity and efficiency.
FSS-A Series Air-Cooled and FSS-R Series Remote Air-Cooled
Chillers
Brush or vacuum light dirt accumulations off the aluminum
condenser fins. Avoid bending or damaging them. Heavy dirt
accumulations on the fins may require professional cleaning.
FSS-W Series Water-Cooled Chillers
Proper water treatment will greatly reduce cleaning intervals.
Coaxial Condensers: 2 to 7.5 hp (1.49 to 5.59 kW)
Remove dirt and slime on the water side of the condensor tube by
reverse-circulating with a mild detergent and water solution.
Remove mineral deposits by reverse-circulating AEC Liquid
Inhibited Acid De-Scaling Solution (AEC Part No. A0502600)
through the water side of the condenser. Follow the directions on
the container.
Important!
Do not use steam or water over 140ºF (60ºC) to clean a condenser unless you
are using guages to monitor the refrigeration circuit for excessive pressure.
AEC, Inc. recommends that only a trained technician use this method!
