Selecting Location for the New Board
In general, the 25S/25L/28L/3074 will number the cards of a specific type going
from lowest Slot ID to the largest Slot ID. Note that the Slot Number and the Slot
ID are not the same in all cases. Specifically Slot 13 and Slot 1 have their Slot IDs
swapped. You can avoid confusion by not using Slot 13 unless you have to.
If you must locate a new board of a type already installed, it is best if you can
install the new board in a slot with a higher Slot ID than the others. If this can not
be done, you may have to move the cabling associated with this board type, from
one board to another to keep the numbering straight.
Board Installation Procedure
1. Follow the procedures for removing the covers from the 25S/25L/28L/3074.
2. Using the Board Slot Population chart as a guide, select the slot where you
intend to locate the new board.
3. Locate the screw holding the bracket in place for the slot where you want to
position the new board. Remove the screw.
4. Position the new board into the slot associated with the bracket that you just
removed, and carefully plug it in.
5. Using the screw removed in step 2, secure the board bracket to the rear bracket.
6. Reassemble the covers.
7. Plug any cables associated with the new board, into the appropriate connectors.
8. Using the appropriate Configuration Manual as a guide, boot the 25S/25L/
28L/3074 and adjust the values shown on the Product Definition panel in
configuration to reflect the new hardware that was just installed.
