Operating guidelines
Follow these guidelines to help make your Switch & Sense 8 run as trouble-free as possible.

Run the Switch & Sense 8 software (ICalUSB.exe) after you connect each Switch & Sense 8 for the first
time. ICalUSB.exe generates a configuration file used to map the specified device number to the physical
device.
 Do not disconnect any device from the USB bus while the host is communicating with the Switch & Sense
8.
 If the STATUS LED to the left of the USB cable goes out, your computer cannot communicate with the
device. To re-enable the device, disconnect the USB cable from the computer, and then reconnect it. This
action resets the STATUS LED to on and restores communication.
 If using the relays to control inductive loads, place a diode across the control terminals to suppress the
kickback voltage. If the diode is not present, the kickback voltage could reset the on-board processor. The
only way to recover from a reset is to disconnect the USB cable, then reconnect it.
