6 Application examples
In this chapter, we will use a few application examples to illustrate how you
can use your new MicroLink dLAN Audio. In addition, we will tell you which
components you need for each application, and which steps are required dur-
ing configuration.
You can find a detailed description of the individual hardware and software
configuration steps in the chapters “Connection and Startup” on page 20,
“devolo MicroLink dLAN software” on page 25 and “Windows Media Player
and Winamp” on page 38.
In principle, you can connect almost all devices over your household power
supply grid, and these devices can then function as servers or clients for
audio data.

"Servers" are all devices which provide audio data for transmission in the
power supply grid.
b "Clients" are all devices that receive audio data from the power supply
grid in order to play them back.

Examples:
The last column of the table shows which adapter you should use to connect
each of the various components to the power supply grid.
In addition to a stereo system, speakers and microphone, you can also use
other devices, such as headphones, satellite receivers or TV sets, as audio
sources or playback devices. The connection and configuration of these
devices are performed in a similar manner to the application examples listed
below.
