Section 1:
Introduction
This manual explains the installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of a Daktronics
DataMaster
™
DF-1030 and DF-1040 Rate Displays. For questions regarding the safety,
installation, operation, or service of this system, please refer to the telephone numbers are
listed on the cover page of this manual.
The manual is divided into nine sections: Introduction, Mechanical Installation, Electrical
Installation, Maintenance and Troubleshooting, DataMaster Controller Operation, Appendix
A, Appendix B, Appendix C, and Appendix D.
• Introduction covers the basic information needed to make the most of the rest of
this manual – take time to read the entire introduction as it defines terms and
explains concepts used throughout the manual.
• Mechanical Installation provides general information for mounting the display.
• Electrical Installation gives general guidance on terminating power and signal
cables at the display.
• Maintenance and Troubleshooting addresses such things as removing basic display
components, troubleshooting the display, performing general maintenance, and lists
replacement parts.
• Rate Display Operation section gives an overview of the DataMaster controller and
how is it used with the Lottery display.
• Appendix A lists drawings referenced in this manual.
• Appendix B contains the Frequently Asked Questions when operating this display.
• Appendix C contains a drawing that is a quick reference for installing the display.
• Appendix D contains a quick reference for the DataMaster controller.
Daktronics identifies manuals by an ED number located on the cover page of the manual. For
example, this manual would be referred to as ED-13751.
Listed below are a number of drawing types commonly used by Daktronics, along with the
information each is likely to provide.
• System Riser Diagrams: overall system layout from control room to display, power,
and phase requirements.
• Electrical and Mechanical Specification Drawings: driver enclosure locations,
mounting information, display dimensions; power and signal entrance points, and
access method (front or rear).
• Schematics: power wiring, signal wiring, panel board or power termination panel
assignments, signal termination panel assignments, and transformer assignments.
