6-4 Using Diagnostics
Keyboard Test
1. Select Keyboard. The keyboard test checks the scan and
char codes for individual keys.
2. Press any key. The scan code and character code appear
for each key pressed.
3. Press
b twice to return to the previous menu.
Serial Port Test
Checks printer communication through the serial port by testing
transmissions at all baud rates, parity settings, and the modem
control signals.
1. Select Serial Port and follow the directions on the display.
The Comm. (Communications) test checks the functioning of
the printer’s serial port. You need a loopback plug (part
number 124480) to perform the test.
With the loopback plug installed, press any key except
b.
The unit runs the tests:
Testing speed: OK (or Error)
Testing parity: OK (or Error)
Testing ctrls: OK (or Error)
2. Press
b to return to the previous menu.
Scanner Menu
1. Select Scanner to test for proper operation.
2. Select Trigger Scanner. Press the trigger to initiate a scan.
If the scan is successful, the scanned data is displayed and
the LED on the keypad bezel turns on. If the scan is not
successful, the LED remains off and “no data” is displayed.

b to return to the previous menu.
