Using Radio Cards 3-1

U S I N G R A D I O C A R D S

You can use a radio card with the appropriate device drivers to

enable a printer to run radio-frequency (RF) communications,

which allow the printers to use wireless radio networks. The

card goes in the printer’s PC-card slot.

Following are the available radio cards:

Cisco 802.11B

Symbol® Spectrum 24 802.11

W r i t i n g a R a d i o - E n a b l e d A p p l i c a t i o n

Write the application, integrating Datalight® Sockets® API

commands into the application code. See the Datalight Sockets

Developer’s Guide for more information.

When you link the application, include lmsdlskt.lib.

Be sure to write power management for the radio into the

application (this is separate from printer power

management).

Do not make broadcast messages or respond to them.

Make sure the radio is not pinging or responding to all

access points in an area. This action drains the battery

quickly.
