CalMAN Grayscale and 3D LUT Calibration:
CalMAN can calibrate the 3D LUT in the Radiance with a direct USB control connection. To produce an
optimized 125 point 3D LUT calibration file and automatically load it into the Radiance:
1. In the Radiance menu, set the 3D Color Gamut Options to Enabled and 125 Points.
o Menu > Output > CMS’s > CMSx > Color Gamut > Options > Enabled; Yes
o Menu > Output > CMS’s > CMSx > Color Gamut > Options > Points; 125
Radiance CMS Luminance Level Setup
2. In CalMAN, first load the "SI Advanced" workflow.
3. On the Hardware Connect page, click the Find Source button, select “Lumagen – Radiance
series,” then click Connect.
4. On the Hardware Connect page, click the Find Processor/Display button, select "Lumagen –
Radiance 3D LUT fw 091612 or later,” then click Connect.
Skip to the CMS Calibration page:
5. On the SI Advanced workflow CMS Calibration page, first click the Read Series button to
measure the performance of the primary and secondary colors.
6. Click through the color level select tabs for the six primary and secondary colors to note
which color has the lowest DeltaL.
7. Click the Read Continuous button and equally decrease the Radiance CMS White Level SubR,
SubB, and SubG controls. Decrease the White Level controls equally, while watching the
DeltaL measurement for the lowest color, until it reaches the 0 point on the DeltaL chart.
You are now done with the SI Advanced calibration workflow.
Radiance Grayscale and 3D LUT Creation
1. In CalMAN, load the "Color Cube (3D LUT)" workflow.
2. Proceed through each step of the workflow in the normal fashion, using the following notes
for guidance on the indicated workflow pages.
3. On the RGB Adjust page, under the RGB Adjust Levels selection, select “2 Point 30, 100%.”
Click Read Continuous and adjust the display’s RGB Gain controls for RGB balance at 100%.
Adjust the display’s RGB Offset/Bias controls (if provided) for RGB balance at 30%.
4. On the 1D Ramp LUT page, click the AutoCal action button in the lower right to optimize
calibration of the display’s grayscale and gamma. (This step is not required for a 20xx and
21xx series model, since a 17 point grayscale calibration is done within the following
17x17x17 point LUT calibration.
5. On the 3D Cube LUT page, click the AutoCal (circling arrows) button at the right end of the
meter action buttons. The AutoCal Setup dialog then appears (see below).
