3. Audio output number 8. This drives a two channel amplifier with outputs 8A and 8B. It also accepts two
return
signals
(Vmon
for
A
and
B)
to
monitor
the
amplifier
output.
Use
a
standard
DE-‐15
to
DE-‐15
cable
to
connect
this
to
an
amplifier.
Refer
to
Appendix
A
for
the
connector
pin
out.
4. 12VDC input to drive the analog bypass circuit. Completely independent circuitry passes an analog signal
(item 10, below) to selected outputs through a passive crossover on loss of digital audio.
5. Items
5
through
9
are
additional
outputs
to
drive
amplifiers
(the
same
as
item
3).
10.
Item
10
is
a
balanced
analog
input
for
bypass
audio.
This
audio
is
fed
to
selected
outputs
through
a
passive
crossover
if
the
digital
input
is
not
present.
DAX-‐16 Output Assignments
The
DAX-‐16
can
route
any
input
to
any
output.
Or,
more
correctly,
any
output
can
be
driven
by
any
input
(so
more
than
one
output
may
get
audio
from
a
single
input).
However,
thought
needs
to
be
given
as
to
how
the
system
will
behave
when
the
DAX-‐16
is
in
bypass
(loss
of
digital
input).
The
DAX-‐16
bypass
circuitry
contains
a
passive
crossover
that
supports
full-‐range,
biamp,
and
triamp
operation.
The
system
is
intended
to
drive
the
left
and
right
speakers
when
in
bypass.

and
the
table

show
suggested
output
configurations
that
take
advantage
of
the
bypass
capability.

The
outputs
are
fully
configurable
as
to
which
digital
input
each
is
driven
by.
Use
of
the
above
assignments
ensures
that
bypass
audio
drives
the
left
and
right
speakers.
In
many
installations,
especially
those
with
more
than
one
DAX-‐16,
the
bypass
audio
capability
will
not
be
used.
The
digital
to
analog
routing
is
fully
configurable
the
analog
bypass
is
not.
