SHORT SHIFT KIT – Manual Transmission

INSTALLATION INSTRUCTION

Part # 66.10.94

2008.5-UP w/ 2.0 TSI (CCTA/CBFA)

PART LIST:

1 – GEAR SELECTOR LEVER w/SMALL PIN STUD (.330” / 8.4 mm diameter)

TOOLS REQUIRED:

1 – 13mm SOCKET

1 – RATCHET HANDLE

1-SPRING CLAMP PLIERS

1 – 6” OR LONGER EXTENSION

1 – TORQUE WRENCH

1-5MM HEX KEY WRENCH

1. Disconnect Mass Air Flow (MAF) sensor

electrical connector.

2. Disconnect air intake hose from MAF

using spring clamp pliers.

3. Squeeze collar and disconnect air pump

hose from front side of air filter box lid if

equipped.

4. Remove cover at intake duct.

5. Using a 5mm hex key wrench, unbolt air

filter box mount, located on back side.

6. Lift off air filter box from rubber

grommet mounts, then lift out left side
first and rotate intake duct around small

coolant hose to remove. Note drain

tubing on bottom right side of air box.

7. Remove clip on end of shifter cable and

lift off. Unbolt gear selector lever from

selector shaft using a 13mm socket –

now remove lever (rock lever back and

forth while pulling up).

6. Grease guide rail on NEUSPEED® gear

selector lever. Install selector lever by

first installing guide rail in white plastic

guide. Then match up splines on
selector shaft – note wide alignment

spline. Install lock nut and torque to 20

ft./lbs. Grease pin on gear selector lever

and re-attach cable and retaining clip.

Re-install air box in reverse of disassembly.

Carefully double-check complete installation to be sure nothing interferes with the shift linkage, tightness of all nuts and bolts, and check

that ALL gears engage smoothly and fully BEFORE STARTING ENGINE OR TEST DRIVING!
